About

Amazing Mosaics

Amazing Mosaics was created as a way to expose an audience  to a type of artwork that is non-traditional in form and a form of art that you do not see every day in an art gallery.
Amazing Mosaics are artistic wall hangings that can be yours to appreciate.

I am an artist who has a different approach to traditional mosaics.

People have a tendency to think of mosaics as done on outside patio furniture or on the tops of tables or benches.

I have broken away from that stereotype people have regarding mosaics and create unique wall hangings that will be viewed and enjoyed for a lifetime wherever
you wish to hang them.

After graduating from High School I enlisted in the U. S. Navy, serving as a Construction Mechanic Petty Officer Third Class in the Seabees where I was assigned as an emergency mechanic for Bomb Crew 'B' at NWSTF, Boardman Bombing Range, in eastern Oregon.

Following the service, I moved to Phoenix where I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Grand Canyon College and a Master of Arts degree from Chapman College.

I enjoyed a teaching career that spanned almost 25 years.

I am a self-taught artist and have completed artwork in a wide variety of medium before finally turning to mosaics.

As a member of the Sonoran Arts League, once a year 25 artists can submit five pieces of their work to be critiqued by an independent panel of three professional art critics. This event is known as 'Jury Day'.

February 10, 2024, was Jury Day for me. The jurists use the following criteria to judge the artwork submitted:

Cohesive Body of Work, Composition/Design, Originality/Creativity, Masterful Technique, Value, Color, Hues, Anatomy, Linear Perspective, Color/Harmony, Tonal Contrast, Foreground/Background, Positive/Negative Space, and Framing/Presentation.

The pieces I chose to submit were: FAB FOUR, INDIAN PONY, MERLE, HANK SR. & JR., AND SECURING FREEDOM FOR ALL.

Being selected as a “Juried Member” means your artwork has been scrutinized and judged at a higher level or standard than normal artwork and all have met the criteria and successfully passed.

I was informed that my artwork met the criteria and was successful in joining the elite group of artists known as a "Juried Member" of the Sonoran Arts League.
